Challenge

There are many apps and websites selling cars, yet their purpose is based on the company’s need to move inventory. No one considers the actual user needs.

Goals

Create an app which sales cars based on the actual user needs and will make the car buying experience easy and intuitive. 

Solution

This app sells cars based on age and other unique requirements from users. For example, seniors with accessibility challenges can customize their car with accessories, enabling them to purchase their perfect automobile for their lifestyle. It also starts with a Question/Answer method, where using that technique, we can find what the users actually require.

General Research

I started researching about the general behavior of the users who buy cars. I found interesting facts about the consumers which supports the cause of creating this app. They are as follows:

87% of Americans dislike something about car shopping at dealerships and 61% feel they’re taken advantage of while there.

52% of car shoppers feel anxious or uncomfortable at dealerships. Millennials lead the pack in their dislike..

More than half (53%) of automotive internet shoppers use a mobile device in their quest for automotive information. For 2016, smartphone usage surpasses tablet usage (37% vs. 33%, respectively). 

Car buyers spend 59% of their time online researching.

I conducted Competitive analysis to understand how my suggested app will solve the real world problem.

I researched on four car sites i,e. Mercedes, Subaru, Kia, BMW. I found few interesting facts.

None of them ask questions to the user in order to find out their requirements and build a car based on their requirements.

User's Persona

I started researching different websites to find the behavior of the online car buyer. From that research, I was able to build 3 user personas which the app can target. In ideal world these personas should be created by either survey or interviewing the actual user.

User Flow

User flow is the path taken by a user to complete a task. The user flow takes them from their starting point which is “Build a car” through a set of steps towards final action, which is purchasing a car.

Wireframe

I created wireframes to show the visual representation of the user interface without adding any color. I also added the user flow to it.

Interactive Prototype

I used Sketch prototype feature to create interactive prototype to show the actual user flow from start to end.
