Fauci Statue
3D Modelling
Individual Class Project
Duration: Fall 2020
Tools used: AutoCAD, Fusion 360, MakeHuman
Overview
A class project requires students to create a statue of an individual who has had the most impact on modern society.
We're in the year 2020, and a lot has happened over the past 22 months. Americans have been suffering from Coronavirus. Among the heroes of modern medicine is Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is credited with combating dangerous viruses. I choose an American hero whose statue we can build so that we can remember him forever.

Statue structure I envisioned
Will use this virus shape
Dr.Fauci will be placed on a pedestal that looks like a sphere of a virus with spikes on top. I will place him on a pedestal so that he appears to be above the virus, giving people a sense of victory as he looks on.

I started building a pedestal, in Fusion 360, added spikes to the ball to give it a more ‘virus-like’ shape

Starting phase 1

Phase 2, I added height to the pedestal

Start phase 3, added spikes to the ball to give it a more ‘virus-like’ shape.

I made the base smaller to allow for Fauci to be seen

I converted the file into an MTL file, which would allow me to put it onto Fusion 360. Here are the results.

To put Fauci’s face onto a statue, I used a plugin, MakeHuman. MakeHuman allowed me to put Fauci’s face MTL on a rag doll generator. I proceeded to put the doll in a suit. I did not need to specify hair or eye color, as statues don’t typically have paint.
